March Landscaping Tip: Get Your Yard Ready for Spring
Who else is ready for spring? We sure are! But with spring comes some routine yard maintenance. With just a few steps, you can have your yard as gorgeous as you remember before all of the snow set in! In no time, your yard will be in top-shape and ready for hosting company just in time for the weather to warm up.
How to Get Your Yard Ready For Spring
Ready to do some yard work? Here are the steps for cleaning up your lawn for spring:
- Prune away dead and damaged branches of trees, shrubs, and grasses. With a small handsaw or clippers, trim away the damaged parts of the plant to make room for sunlight to reach the healthy parts of the plant.
- Clean up around plants. Rake out fallen leaves and dead foliage from around your plants. If you’re planting bulbs, now is a perfect time to put down fertilizer.
- Prep damaged lawn areas for plantings. With how much snow we’ve gotten this year, grass might not grow back fully until April. But now is a good time to test the soil’s pH levels so you can make sure it grows back healthy! You can pick up a pH soil testing kit at any home improvement store. If your soil needs it, work in some compost and fertilizer.
- Clean hardscape surfaces. With all the salt we’ve had to use for traction and melting this year, your walkways and paths are probably filthy. Sweep them up and make sure they look good.
With these steps, your yard should be ready to go for spring!
